BasicunitisatermcommonlyusedinstatisticsinMainlandChina.Itwasstandardizedinthefirstnationaleconomiccensusthatbeganin2004.ThebasicunitIncludinglegalentities,industrialactivityunitsandself-employedhouseholds.
Legalentities
Legalentitiesaredividedintosingle-industrylegalpersonsandmulti-industrylegalpersons,andmeetthefollowingconditions:
Establishedaccordingtolaw,thereareOne'sownname,organizationandlocationcanindependentlybearcivilliability.
Independentlyownanduse(orauthorizetheuse)ofassets,assumeliabilities,andhavetherighttosigncontractswithotherunits.
Independentaccounting,abletopreparebalancesheet.
Legalpersonsincludeenterpriselegalpersons,publicinstitutions,governmentagencies,socialorganizations,andotherlegalpersons.
Enterpriselegalperson
Enterpriselegalpersonreferstothe"RegulationsontheAdministrationofEnterpriseLegalPersonRegistrationofthePeople'sRepublicofChina","RegulationsontheAdministrationofCompanyRegistrationofthePeople'sRepublicofChina",etc.Anenterprisethathasbeenregisteredwiththeadministrativeorgansforindustryandcommerceatalllevels,obtainedthe"BusinessLicenseofEnterpriseLegalPerson",andobtainedthestatusofalegalperson.Including:
Company.
Non-corporateenterpriselegalperson.

PublicinstitutionlegalpersonreferstotheapprovaloftheStateCouncil’sinstitutionalestablishmentmanagementdepartmentandtheregistrationorfilingofthenationalinstitutionregistrationmanagementdepartment.Orapublicinstitutionthathasbeenapprovedbytheestablishmentmanagementdepartmentofaninstitutionatorabovethecountylevel,registeredorfiledbytheregistrationmanagementdepartmentofaninstitutionatorabovethecountylevel,andobtainedthe"CertificateofPublicInstitutionLegalPerson"andobtainedthequalificationofalegalperson.Institutionalentitiesinclude:

Socialorganizationlegalpersonreferstothe"RegulationsonRegistrationandAdministrationofSocialOrganizations",approvedbytheCivilAffairsDepartmentoftheStateCouncilandlocalpeopleatorabovethecountylevel.Varioussocialorganizationsthathavebeenregisteredorfiledbythecivilaffairsdepartmentofthegovernment,andhavereceivedthe"SocialOrganizationLegalPersonRegistrationCertificate".Andmassorganizationsthatdonotneedtoregisterasalegalpersoninaccordancewiththelaw,andaremanagedbytheorganizationmanagementdepartment.Socialorganizationsandlegalpersonsinclude:

Single-industrylegalperson
Thelegalpersonunitislocatedinonlyoneplaceandmainlyengagesinonetypeofsocialeconomicactivity,whichiscalledasingle-industrylegalperson.Asingle-industrylegalpersonisalsoanindustrialactivityunit.
Multi-industrylegalperson
Alegalentityiscalledamulti-industrylegalpersonthatengagesinmultipleeconomicactivitiesorislocatedinmultiplelocations.Amulti-industrylegalpersoniscomposedoftwoormoreindustrialactivityunits.
Self-employedhouseholds
Self-employedhouseholdsrefertoatypeofhouseholdsinwhichtheproductionmaterialsareownedbytheindividual,basedonindividuallabor,andtheresultsofthelaborareownedandcontrolledbytheindividual.Businessunit.Theseinclude:
Individualbusinessesthathavebeenregisteredwiththeindustrialandcommercialadministrationsatalllevelsandreceivedthe"BusinessLicense"inaccordancewiththe"GeneralPrinciplesoftheCivilLaw"andthe"InterimRegulationsontheAdministrationofIndividualIndustrialandCommercialHouseholdsinUrbanandRuralAreas"Household.Specifically,itreferstotheself-employedcitizenswhoareengagedinactivitiessuchasindustry,commerce,construction,transportation,catering,andservicewithinthescopeofthelaw,approvedandregisteredinaccordancewiththelaw.
Accordingtothe"InterimRegulationsontheRegistrationandManagementofPrivateNon-EnterpriseUnits",theCivilAffairsDepartmentoftheStateCouncilandthecivilaffairsdepartmentsoflocalpeople’sgovernmentsatorabovethecountylevelhaveapprovedtheregistrationandreceivedthe"PrivateNon-EnterpriseUnits"(Partnership)RegistrationCertificate"or"PrivateNon-EnterpriseUnit(Individual)RegistrationCertificate".
Urbanandruralself-employedhouseholdswhohavenotobtainedthe"BusinessLicense"buthavearelativelyfixedplaceandhaveactuallyengagedinself-employmentactivitiesformorethanthreemonths.Butitdoesnotincludesomepart-timeindustrial,commercialandotheractivitiescarriedoutbyfarmerfamilieswithauxiliarylabororusingtheirleisuretimeinthefarming.
