1962Theschoolwasfoundedin1999andwasnamed"PreparatorySchoolforForeignStudents".9. ledna 1965, schválený premiérem ZhouEnlai, byl pojmenován „BeijingLanguage Institute“.
OnOctober19,1971,accordingtothedecisionoftheBeijingMunicipalRevolutionaryCommittee,the"BeijingLanguageInstitute"mergedwithBeijingInternationalStudiesUniversity.
16. října 1972 byla škola obnovena v péči Premier Zhou.
V roce 1974 napsal předseda MaoZedong název školy.
In1986,itbegantorecruitpostgraduatesinthefieldofmodernChineseasaforeignlanguage.
In1988,theschoolfirstbegantoenrollforeignstudentsforpostgraduates.
OnJune13,1996,itwasofficiallyrenamed"BeijingLanguageandCultureUniversity"withtheapprovaloftheStateEducationCommission(nowtheMinistryofEducation).

From2006toJanuary2014,theschoolapprovedmorethan400school-levelprojects,withaninvestmentof14.7546millionyuan.Afterthe"incubation"ofschool-levelprojects,atotalof254projectsreceivedprojectsupportfromhigher-leveldepartments,withanapprovedfundingof37,805,500yuan.4,531scientificresearchresultshavebeenpublished.Theresearchresultshavewon19provincialandministerialawardsandabove,including2firstprizesforoutstandingscientificresearchachievementsincollegesanduniversities.Obtained3majorresearchprojectsinphilosophyandsocialsciencesoftheMinistryofEducation,and2majorprojectsoftheNationalSocialScienceFund.
